Highs and Lows

Weather that is. We have gone from 75 to 35 this week, with everything in between. From rain to snow, it has been a rollercoaster of a ride. It has worn me out. Monday was beautiful and we enjoyed every minute of it. Tuesday we went to some amazing gardens and were greeted with this:

We spent a good ten minutes in the car watching the downpour. When it finally seemed to let up, we dashed in, and were still drenched to the bone.

Luckily, there were butterflies and other beautiful things to enjoy on the inside, so the day was not a complete wash.

Wednesday should have been a day to get lots done. Unfortunately, a few old friends have come back into my life and were calling for me to just lie around, listen to the rain, and crack them open.

It's been so fun to get reacquainted with these books. I haven't read them since I was a kid and to get the adult perspective now is so enjoyable. Not to mention, all the talk of knitting, canning, and sewing. Maybe, this is where it all started.

Yesterday, Little Girl and I had a girl’s night together. We made some split pea soup, which is so lovely because it tastes so good while being so ugly and ba-ba-nana bread. You have to lisp when you say it. We put our dirty dishes in the refrigerator instead of the sink, since Little Girl said that was the way it should be. We spent twenty-one minutes picking out the right shoes to wear to the library. Little Girl twenty, me one. Then we curled up on the sofa with new books and enjoyed each others company.

So, let’s hope the world can even out a little and have a great weekend.
